New System for the Revival of Egyptian Cotton .

In light of the directives of the Egyptian President , a new system was developed for reviving Egyptian Cotton .
A Ministerial Committee was formed including the Public Business Sector , Agriculture , Trading & Manufacturing Ministries aiming to develop cotton harvesting up to ginning and Trading System .
The Committee has already set up a pilot system to be applied in El Fayoum and Benisuef governments in 2019 paving the way to be implemented through the whole country by 2020 .
This system aims to confront the negativities in the previous trading system which led to the reduction of cotton quality and thus adversely negatively affected its reputation among global varieties .
Many technical and administrative regulations have been set in order to regain the Egyptian Cotton quality and restore its reputation and its distinguished position globally .
. Cotton will be sold through announced auctions , where all cotton trading companies will be allowed to participate in ; enabling farmers to get the highest price comfortable to international prices .
The auction will be held on a daily basis by the holding company for cotton and spinning and weaving , it will be opened at a price that represents the current average price of index A of the American Pima and short staple cotton the prices will be determined on the base grade , ginning outturn and grade differences .
The Ministry of Agriculture reviewed the main steps of the pilot system , starting from harvesting where farmers will receive new bags made of jute with a cotton belt .
Cotton will be delivered only at the new centers of receiving cotton managed by subsidiary companies of the holding company of cotton and spinning and weaving . Note that it will not be allowed to establish any private rings or receiving centers that are not registered , and cotton will be received only through the farmers directly by ID cards and agriculture possession cards to prevent any fraud from intermediaries .
For preventing cotton contamination , produces are prohibited from mixing cotton with odd varieties , to prevent mixing propagation varieties and to ensure that cotton is contamination-free . The cotton trading iis restricted to specific receiving centers in each administrative center in each governovate under the supervision of Cotton Arbitration and Testing General Organization ( CATGO ) in cooperation with cotton Research Institute .
All the concerned authorities expressed their full support for the new trading system of cotton which will enable farmers to achieve the highest returns and encourage them to expand their cotton plantings in the coming season .
The Ministry of Agriculture has pointed out that the establishment and operation of the first developed ginnery equipped with the latest technology in El Fayoum has been completed to produce free contamination cotton bales & according to the latest specifications . This system will be applied to 10 other ginneries with a capacity exceeding the current capacity of about 75 ginneries .
The Chairman of the Holding Company for Cotton and Spinning and Weaving reviewed the features of the plan to modernize the spinning and weaving industry in the subsidiary companies which started since last April .
The contracts for supplying with the latest machineries have been signed which are expected to be received during 2020 , in addition to developing the infrastructure for factories and training workers .
